Canadian passport holders do not require a visa and are granted Q-1 status by U.S. Customs and Border Protection when they cross the border into the United States. If you are a Canadian passport holder, you must show the Customs and Border Protection Officer your I-797 Visa Approval Notice, passport, and Offer Letter when you arrive.
J-1 Visa
Canadian passport holders do not require a visa and are granted J-1 status by U.S. Customs and Border Protection when they cross the border into the United States. If you are a Canadian passport holder, you must show the Customs and Border Protection Officer your Form DS-2019, receipt for SEVIS payment, passport and Offer Letter when you arrive.
As a Canadian passport holder, you are required to pay the SEVIS fee and provide proof of this payment during your U.S. Immigration Inspection.
